Myser Faculty Fellowship

The de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture (dCEC) is pleased to offer the Myser Faculty Fellowship, an opportunity for scholars from around the world to pursue research in a scholarly community rooted in a commitment to the Catholic moral, intellectual, and aesthetic tradition.
Made possible by a generous gift from the Myser Family, the Myser Faculty Fellowship is offered annually to outstanding scholars in all disciplines whose research interests support and extend the work of the de Nicola Center.
Myser Fellows pursue their own research projects while in residence with the de Nicola Center at the University of Notre Dame for the academic year. During that time, Myser Fellows play an active role in the life of the Center, interacting with its network of faculty and student fellows and participating in its regular seminars, events, and conferences.

Eligibility
The Myser Fellowship is open to scholars with current academic appointments at colleges or universities who are conducting a substantial research project related to the Catholic intellectual, moral, and aesthetic tradition. Applicants from all academic disciplines, both U.S.-based and internationally, are encouraged to apply.
Research Support
Myser Fellows may receive up to half their base salary per academic year (not to exceed $80,000). Fellows' home institutions provide the remainder of their salaries as well as all benefits, including health insurance.
During their fellowship, Myser Fellows will have the opportunity to collaborate with students and faculty affiliated with the de Nicola Center through regular seminars and other de Nicola Center events. Throughout the year, the dCEC will offer robust programming including academic conferences, masterclasses, seminars, guest lectures, reading groups, film screenings, research workshops, and social events.
Application Requirements
Applications for the Myser Faculty Fellowship must be submitted through Interfolio and include the following:
- Completed online application form
- Cover letter
- Curriculum vitae
- Fellowship research proposal, which should include:
- an description of the intended project
- how the proposed project aligns with the Center's mission
- proposed output during and/or following the completion of the fellowship
- any particular opportunities for engagement with the de Nicola Center's network of students and faculty
- Two contacts for letters of reference
- (Optional) Additional materials supporting the research proposal
Finalists will be asked to participate in an in-person or virtual conversation with committee members during the final stage of the selection process. Final notifications will be issued in early 2026.
