Virtual Colloquium on Thomas Aquinas and Natural Law

The Virtual Colloquium on Thomas Aquinas and Natural Law, organized by the Notre Dame Beijing Global Gateway, the Jacques Maritain Center at Notre Dame, and the Thomistic Institute at the Angelicum in Rome, is a continuation of the well-attended Western Medieval Philosophy Lecture Series started in 2021. It will bring together leading scholars from the US and China to discuss the Angelic Doctor's philosophy and theology of the Natural Law. The colloquium's three lectures will present the foundation concepts in St. Thomas' conception of the natural law and discuss its implications for the philosophy of law in general and hierarchies of goods. 2022 Nanovic Forum with Lord Alton of Liverpool: "A View from the UK Parliament: What We Must Do to Combat Genocide"
David Alton (Professor Lord Alton of Liverpool) has served in both Houses of the UK Parliament. He was a Member of the House of Commons for 18 years until 1997, when he was appointed a Life Peer. Alton began his career as a teacher and, in 1972, he was elected to Liverpool City Council as Britain’s youngest City Councillor. He now serves on the House of Lords International Relations and Defence Select Committee.…
