(Dominican House of Studies) and Angela Knobel (University of Dallas and dCEC 2025–26 Myser visiting fellow) for a conversation on Father Pine’s forthcoming book, Training the Tongue and Growing Beyond Sins of Speech. In this work, Father Pine directs our attention to the primary purpose of speech—communion with God and each other—and considers a whole range of methods to develop our humanity in service of that end. Join Angela Knobel (University of Dallas), the de Nicola Center's 2025–26 Myser Visiting Fellow, for a virtual reading group and discussion of Tolstoy's classic novel Anna Karenina. This webinar will focus in particular on questions of virtue and happiness in the contrasting stories of the beautiful Anna, who forsakes family and tradition for a grand passion, and the dutiful, self-sacrificing Dolly, who endures a profligate, philandering husband for the sake of her family and her children. It is easy to see Dolly as heroic; is it possible to see her as happy?
