March On, Notre Dame!

#MarchOnND

Dear friends,

Here at the University of Notre Dame – Our Lady’s University – we march.

We march on behalf of what is good, what is true, and what is beautiful.

Through teaching, learning, research and scholarship – but most of all in service to our most vulnerable brothers and sisters, near or far, forgotten or lost. Those who have a voice, and those without.

We march not only in our collective public witness, but in our daily resolution to accompany our brothers and sisters in need.

We build a culture of life together through the work of our students – the lifeblood of this university – who without hesitation stand up and take on the responsibility to love without condition. Who by the thousands walk shoulder to shoulder in defense of the legal protection of the unborn child, her mother, and indeed all neighbors in need.

At Notre Dame, we build a culture of life together through our faculty, who illuminate the truth regarding the intrinsic equal dignity of every human being – born and unborn. Who exercise their gifts to help equip current and future generations to advance a culture in which no one is abandoned.

Here we build a culture of life together through this university’s institutional commitment, honoring and celebrating those who recognize the equal dignity of all persons in the human family -- born and unborn – and devote themselves to building the kingdom of God, lifting up the lowly, and fulfilling those who hunger for justice.

At and as Notre Dame, students, teachers, parents, alumni...friends one and all – march to wake the echoes of this university’s founder, who said: “When this school, Our Lady’s school, grows a bit more, I shall raise her aloft so that, without asking, all men shall know why we have succeeded here. To that lovely Lady, raised high on a dome, a Golden Dome, men may look and find the answer.”

March On, Notre Dame!
