Professor Hadley Arkes will deliver a lecture about how Roe v. Wade shaped American culture for nearly fifty years and the cultural impacts of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. Arkes is the founder and director of the James Wilson Institute, which seeks to restore to a new generation of lawyers, judges, and citizens the understanding of the American Founders about the first principles of our law and the moral grounds of their own rights. He is an emeritus professor at Amherst College, where he began teaching in 1966. He is the author of seven books, most recently Constitutional Illusions and Anchoring Truths: The Touchstone of the Natural Law (Cambridge University Press, 2010).
