Ethics & Culture Series

Under the general editorship of Center director David Solomon, the Center is pleased to welcome queries regarding our new book series, the Ethics & Culture Series, to be published by the University of Notre Dame Press. The Ethics & Culture Series will feature smaller, incisive monographs aimed at questioning the assumptions currently driving debates in the field of academic ethics, as well as in the broader culture.

Volumes in the Ethics & Culture Series will embody the Center's two basic principles, first, by showing how systematic and rational discussion of ethical problems must be grounded in traditions of thought and practice; and second, by showing how the resources of our own tradition can be brought to bear upon particular ethical problems.

The Ethics & Culture Series, as with all the work of the Center, is inspired by the Catholic intellectual tradition and moral vision embodied in the Augustinian/Thomistic tradition, which itself has been forged through dialogue between the developing Christian community and other moral and political traditions-a dialogue which has always been guided by a commitment to rational discourse seeking truth.
