Information about entertainment options while in London can be found here, and the form for reserving tickets to these activities can be found here. Both are pdfs.
Readings and case studies for the conference are currently available online. The site is password protected; please contact us at ndethics@nd.edu to obtain access.
Any questions regarding registration, transportation or accommodations should be directed to Judy Gibson (gibson.1@nd.edu or 574.631.5112) at the Alumni Continuing Education office.
Program Fee
This year's conference fee is $1500, and it includes lecture notes, meals,
and refreshments during the conference.
Location
This program will be held at the University of Notre Dame's London facilities
in the heart of the city near Trafalgar Square.
Continuing Medical Education Credits
In past years, Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center designates this
continuing medical education program for up to 14 credit hours in Category
1 of the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association.
We anticipate that this year's conference will be designated for a few
more credits than in the past, because the program is slightly extended
from past years. The fact that the conference will be in London will not
interfere with the granting of CME credits. We will have a sign-in sheet
at the conference to be sure that physicians who attend will receive credit,
and each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she
actually spent in the educational activity.
Anthony Travel is arranging a zone fare with unblocked
seats, meaning you will be booked from your hometown, and the fare is
set based on where you are coming from (i.e., east coast, Midwest , etc.)
The rates vary, but none are more than $550, plus taxes and fees, roundtrip
for coach class. The rates are significantly higher for business class,
with the lowest at about $3500 and the highest around $5500. With this
fare plan, there is an event "window" meaning the travel dates could start
2-3 days before and end 2-3 days after the actual conference should the
passengers want to travel elsewhere before or after the meeting. Once
the reservation is made, the ticket must be issued within 14 days. Once
the ticket is issued, but before the trip begins or during the trip, there
is a fee of $150.00 to make any changes. The name on a ticket may be changed
for $75.00 after the original ticket has been issued. If you were to cancel
outright within 21 days of travel, there is a $300.00 loss.
Our contact at Anthony Travel is Kris Felton . Kris has worked with us
on many projects and she is a genius at arranging overseas trips. Just
contact her, and she will be happy to answer your questions and make all
the arrangements for you.

We are making reservations at two hotels, the Thistle
Charing Cross and the Imperial
Hotel. The cost for the Charing Cross is £75 per person / £150
per couple for a double, £145 for a single. (£1 us approximately
$1.75.) The Imperial, which is a 25-minute walk or 15-minute cab/bus ride
to the conference site, is a less expensive, at £67 for a double
and £51 for a single. Both hotels provide a complimentary English
breakfast. We have arranged for dinners for the participants (and spouses)
all together at the Charing Cross on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
A catered lunch will also be provided on Friday and Saturday at the conference
facilities. All participants' meals during the conference are covered
by the registration fee, with spouses paying for whichever meals they
would like to attend; participants are responsible for their meals and
expenses for the rest of the week.
Both hotels offer clean and comfortable accommodations with private baths
and restaurants, bars and lounges on the premises. The Thistle Charing
Cross is right on Trafalgar Square and adjacent to the Charing Cross Tube
station. The Imperial is in the heart of Bloomsbury about two blocks from
the British Museum and five from the new British Library. It is also.
Like the Thistle, within easy walking distance of Covent Garden and Oxford
Street shopping.
For those who would like more luxurious accommodations, there is no shortage of world-class four- and five-star hotels within easy walking distance of the Notre Dame Centre, such as the Ritz and the Savoy , among others. We would be happy to assist you in making reservations at any of these hotels if you wish to stay there.
