William J. Bennett is the Washington Fellow at The Claremont Institute for the Study of Statesmanship and Political Philosophy. He also hosts a nationally syndicated daily radio program, "Morning in America." He holds a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Williams College, a Ph.D. in political philosophy from the University of Texas, and a J.D. from Harvard. Bennett taught philosophy at Boston University, North Carolina State, and the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill until he was appointed to head the National Endowment for the Humanities in 1981. He later served as President Reagan's Secretary of Education and President's Bush's Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy. He is an advocate for education reform, striving to improve America's public and private educational institutions. He has written and edited a number of books, including The Book of Virtues, The Children's Book of Virtues, and Why We Fight: Moral Clarity and the War on Terrorism.
